Programmes and Services

Core community programmes

VP Centre delivers a holistic set of programmes structured around education, health, skills, and community development.

  • Information Centre

A central hub dedicated to providing accurate, up-to-date, and relevant information to community members. This includes access to public notices, government programs, and essential services. The centre will also serve as a liaison between the community and various government departments, assisting residents with applications, documentation, and general inquiries, thereby improving access to public services and enhancing civic engagement.

  • Sports

Indoor sports facilities designed to promote physical wellness, teamwork, and youth development. These facilities will host structured sports programs, leagues, and recreational activities that encourage healthy lifestyles, reduce youth delinquency, and foster community cohesion.

  • Personal Counseling

Confidential support services aimed at addressing personal, emotional, and social challenges faced by community members. This includes counseling on issues such as stress, family dynamics, substance abuse, and mental health, contributing to overall well-being and resilience.

  • Community Functions

Multi-purpose facilities available for hosting community events such as meetings, workshops, cultural activities, celebrations, and training sessions. These spaces will encourage social interaction, cultural expression, and community unity.

  • SMME Centre

A dedicated support unit for Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and cooperatives. The centre will provide business development services such as mentorship, training, access to funding information, compliance assistance, and market linkage opportunities, fostering local economic growth and entrepreneurship.

  • Government Partnership

Collaboration with government agencies to bring essential services closer to the community. This includes hosting mobile or satellite offices for services such as ID applications, social grant assistance, healthcare outreach programs, and other public service initiatives, improving accessibility and service delivery.

  • Driving School

A structured driving training program that equips individuals with both theoretical knowledge and practical driving skills required to obtain a driver’s license. This service enhances employability and promotes road safety within the community.

  • Construction & Sewing Cooperative

Initiatives aimed at formalizing and supporting local cooperatives in construction, sewing, and potentially agriculture. These programs will provide skills training, access to equipment, and business support, enabling participants to generate income, create employment, and contribute to local economic development.

  • Information Technology

A fully equipped IT facility aimed at bridging the digital divide by providing access to computers, internet services, and digital tools. The centre will offer basic to advanced computer training, including digital literacy, online job applications, and office software skills. This initiative empowers individuals with the technological competencies required for education, employment, and entrepreneurship in a modern digital economy.

  • Career Counseling

Professional guidance services to assist individuals—particularly youth—in identifying suitable career paths based on their skills, interests, and market opportunities. This includes career assessments, CV writing support, interview preparation, and information on job opportunities and industry trends.

  • Post-Matric Development

Guidance and support for school leavers exploring opportunities beyond high school. This includes information on tertiary education, vocational training, bursaries, learnerships, and skills development programs, helping young people make informed decisions about their future.

Future Plans:

Supplementary income-generating and community-serving initiatives such as a bakery, salon services, and cleaning services. These offerings not only meet local needs but also provide practical training and employment opportunities for community members.

Financial Literacy & Banking Alignment Programme

The VP Centre for Learning and Development (formerly Thabisha Centre) is committed to building inclusive, sustainable development pathways for rural communities. Recognizing that financial exclusion remains a significant barrier to economic participation, we propose a Financial Literacy & Banking Alignment Programme to empower individuals, families, and enterprises in rural areas to become bankable and financially secure.
  • Increase financial literacy and confidence in engaging with formal banking systems.
  • Formalise and support community savings initiatives (stokvels, cooperatives).
  • Equip rural entrepreneurs with financial management skills to access loans and grow businesses.
  • Provide youth and school learners with early exposure to banking and savings culture.
  • Empower women to manage household and business finances effectively.
  • Bridge the gap to digital banking adoption in areas with limited infrastructure.
